Our staff comes to pick up you and after we leave at 6:00am and travel towards the village of Shilla. We drive through the northern section of the Callejon de Huaylas Valley and pass through Carhuaz, one of the few villages in the region that retains some of its traditional architecture after the earthquake of 1970. Once we arrive in Shilla, we follow a dirt road that leads up to the Huascaran National park.
Our hike starts through the Santac Uran valley, a magical place where can see waterfalls and big rocky walls - eagles, falcons, mountain caracaras also can be observed in large numbers and at close range. We can also see the beautiful snow-capped peaks of Hualcan (6104 msnm), Cancaracá (5512 msnm) y Chechiacraju (5285 msnm) rising high above the turquoise waters of the lake.
This little hard hike gives Guides the rare opportunity to visit some of the Cordillera Blanca’s most untouched and seldom visited valleys.
After a short walk, around the lake; we have lunch in this idyllic and peaceful spot before making our way back to the starting point, where our vehicle is waiting. At around 4 pm we drive back to Huaraz. We arrive in town at around 6 pm.
